This study focuses upon the short story Lullaby by J. –M. Le Clézio to
analyze it from the perspective of semiotics of Greimas. This method, without taking
into account the outer components, recognizes only the inner elements and enables to
reach to the deep meaning by explaining thoroughly the meaning dimension of the
story. Semiotics is a invalivable source of textual analysis for teachers and students
in foreign language education wich puts great emphasis on literary texts. The metod,
therfore, analyzes the text step by step and suggests itself a method wich easily
applicable for foreign language education.
