Burnout levels of individual educators who work in special education
This research aims to investigate the burnout levels of the individual educators who graduated from the department of psychological counseling and guidance and the department of psychology in special education.
At least one year experienced 72 female and 59 male of 131 participants who work in special education centers connected to Ministry of National Education placed on different locations of İstanbul, had joined to this research.
A “Personal Information Form” that was prepared by the researcher to determine the demographic specialities and also “Maslach Burnout Inventory” measuring the burnout level, were used in the research.
The non-dependent variables of the research were gender and the total years of employment in special education of the individual educators who graduated from the department of psychological counseling and guidance and the department of psychology, the dependent variable was the burnout levels.
Pearson Correlation Analysis was used for analyzing the relationship between variables and Non-dependent t Test and One-Way Analysis of Variation (ANOVA) were employed for analyzing the significant differences between the groups.
As a result of the research, it has been found that there is a significant relationship between the total years of employment and levels of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal accomplishment of the individual educators. Also male educators experienced a higher level of depersonalization than female educators did.
