Death and time-liness in Martin Heidegger

By admin

Taking Heidegger’s book, Being and Time, into consideration, and remaining within the framework of the relationship between Time, Death and Timeliness, the validity of judging the Being by the mind makes the central theme and object of this study.
The methodology of the thesis, owing to its theme, in the first place, is based on how Heidegger has exploited the topic. Firstly his work, Being and Time, and secondly his other works in English have been studied thoroughly and the first part of the thesis has been completed.
The methodology of the thesis is a step-by-step commentary. What is aimed here is to analyse Commentary in Understanding. The third chapter, Commentary, actually renders service to the Conclusion.
For the writer of this thesis, it has served as an experience for asking metaphysical questions and restructuring. Ignoring or underestimating the terms, Death, Time, Timeliness and Being as the mayhem of life, I, the writer, have arrived at certain conclusions. Though requiring profound contemplation in awe, this situation, unfortunately, destroys one’s experience as being ‘the Actual Being’. However, as a person questioning and worrying for her self Being, Dasein can realise how grave her situation is indeed in this havoc. With the impact of this realisation, it is revealed that Time, in which - she thinks - she fades away, is actually a new opening-up for the Being to a deeper understanding of the Self. No matter how thorny it is for the mind, which realises its weaknesses with its very eyes and heart, it triggers a sort of self journeying into being the Actual. This goes the same everywhere. Yet, within this sameness, the difference stemming from their creation, may mislead the humanity.

Man questions himself in his path to death; Will there be time when all these evils beyond my power would be punished, and how come I, as a timeliness being, cannot become immortal in this temporary universe though I have been craving for this? You may claim that I cannot let you question this with a chain of metaphysical questions for certain logical reasons or fallacies, but you cannot stop my quest for the answers to my questions. This sort of questioning is nothing induced by a spread of hedonism or interest but a clear search for yourself. You have become a part of this path directed by this question. We can walk on this path, just as touched upon by the poet, as a means of an opportunity, like dreaming.
