Development of an energy management concept for wind power generation by use of energy storage and wind power prediction

By admin

The Portion of renewable energy sources in energy consumption has been increasing continually and many countries have been applying several support programs to increase the renewable energy use. Particularly, the increase in wind energy is noteworthy. It has come to the level of meeting more than 1% of the world energy consumption. Transferring wind energy to the network and the continual increase of that ratio cause a lot of problems. For instance, sudden fluctuation of wind energy damages network system. Besides,

it can cause an extra financial burden to the system since it increases the electric stabilization problems. In this work, increasing energy quality, network safety by the use of storage and prediction systems is aimed. For the simulated model, an industry area power curve is chosen, annual data for approximate generated power and real measured power which belongs to a wind farm in Germany is used. At the end of the work, wind energy safety has been increased, an increase in the electricity transferred from wind energy to the network is acquired and energy stabilization expenses have been decreased. It is possible that the model formed in a flexible structure can be used not only for wind energy, but also for other renewable energy sources.
