East necropol of the Seleukeia Pieria
The most enduring extant buildings left from ancient cities are those of necropol sides. Therefore, it is important to esteem and analyse monumental graves standing on the east necropol across-the-board for attaining comprehensive information concerning the city.
The first chapter consists of introduction, aim, content and method of the studying.
The second chapter is intensified on the geographical and historical framework and the ruins of Seleukeia Pieria.
Explained in the third chapter is east necropol of the Seleukeia Pieria and burial typology and the types of the necropol. Burial types are consisting of rock-cut-tombs, sarcophagus and related to these carved niches and altars on the rocky surface. The monumental graves that considired in this part are entirely identified in a typhological system.
In the forth chapter, a research was made to complate the information according to the theory. This study was done on the East Necropol of Seleukeia Pieria. The result of the application is clearly explained and comments are done and suggestions are given on the data which are out.
