Motivation and stress factors with stress hormon changes in technical and handicapped diving

This study is important, especially for the handicaped and technical diving groups stress endocrinology, psycometric stres factors and motivation factors all together. In this study psycometric analyses were done by the collected data from “Sport Motivatin Scale”, “Perceived Stress Scale”, “General Health Scale” and “Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale”, which are all valid and reliable for Turkish athletes. The stress levels of diving were investigated by finding the epinephrine, norepinephrine and cortisol values for pre-dive and post- dive blood samples. Statistically significant differences in cortisole and NE levels were found between handicapped beginners and control groups. Also a significant differecence in NE level was found between nonhandicapped beginners and the control group. No significant differences were ascertained between technical deep divers and control group and between handicapped and non-handicapped beginners.
The comparison between the handicapped and nonhandicapped beginner divers showed no differences in Perceived Stress Scale and General Health Scale. However, handicapped divers were more affected from the “being prepeared” and “finding remedy” factors of Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale and “ introvertion” factor of Sport Motivatin Scale than the nonhandicapped beginners. The comparison between the technical and nontechnical experienced divers showed no differences in Perceived Stress Scale, Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale and General Health Scale. Technical divers were more affected from the factors “to know and accomplish” and “intrinsic motivation” of Sport Motivatin Scale than the nontechnical experienced divers. The comparison between the total experienced and beginner divers showed no differences in Perceived Stress Scale, Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale and Sport Motivation Scale. The experienced divers were more affected from the factor “self-distrust” of General Health Scale than the beginners.
