Use of ferrochromium and silicoferrochromium slags and silica fume in road construction
Nonstructural elements or secondary systems are connected to the primary structural system and are composed of equipments and components. In this study, the importance of seismic design of secondary systems due to the damage during several earthquakes and studies for dynamic analysis of secondary systems with the effect of dynamic and pyhsical charecteristics are explained. “Floor Response Spectrum Method” and “Design Oriented Method” are the methods applicable for the dynamic analysis of secondary systems.
In Floor Response Spectrum Method, taking the effect of dynamic interaction between primary and secondary systems maximum displacement, velocity and acceleration response spectra in terms of ground response spectrum values for a specified earthquake are obtained. On the other hand, modal analysis of a combined system composed of primary and secondary systems has been realised and the horizontal loads effecting the secondary system has obtained. Also, horizontal loads in structure codes and provisions are investigated.
In the case studies chapter, for critical equipment in an hospital floor accelaration response spectrum has been generated with stochastic approach and horizontal load effecting on the equipment has been obtained by Design-Oriented Method. Also, combined system response parameters due to the different mass ratios has been obtained.
Finally, the field of the methods used in the dynamic analysis of secondary systems have been compared.
